Murray to Moyne Ride 2010- Enter NOW!
Join the Bay Riders – Ralph’s Rebels and Gurry’s Grinders
Join us in 2010 as we cycle from the Murray River in Echuca to the Moyne River in Port Fairy. We will field two teams of 12 riders (24 cyclists) and some 10 support crew. If we are oversubscribed the Committee will first select those riders who have ridden in the past and made substantial contributions to fund-raising. AND RUMOUR HAS IT THERE MAY BE A THIRD TEAM!
On Friday 26 March we will once again gather at Central Park in Malvern and load the bikes for the ride. Make sure you're there.

Congratulations to all 2009 M2M riders & supporters
In 2009, we raised a little over $60,000 which is a terrific result in the year of the global financial crisis. This money has been distributed to our two worthy charities - Mulleraterong Centre and Harrow Bush Nursing Centre.
Start training as we plan to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Bay Riders Murray to Moyne and to crack the million dollar fund-raising barrier. Perhaps we can then hang up our bikes?
A hearty thanks to you all and check out the gallery for all 2009 highlights.

History of the Murray to Moyne -
'Riding for Woody'
Woody's Murray to Moyne,
24 hour – 520km Team Cycle Relay from Echuca to Port Fairy
Graham Woodrup was a great mate to those lucky enough to know and ride with him. He was also a great athlete, a ‘marathon man’ of cycling who accepted many cycling challenges and always encouraged others to do the same. His greatest personal success was his record ride in 1988 of 4,380 km from Perth to Sydney in 10 days, 17 hours and 56 minutes! Tragically ‘Woody’ was killed in 1992 whilst on a training ride around Tower Hill near Port Fairy, his hometown. In memory of this inspirational man who pioneered this charity event, ‘Woody’s Murray to Moyne’ cycle relay continues.
It is a challenge and a thrill to ride with some 1,600 cyclists who have trained and worked tirelessly for months to raise money for their favourite charities. Since the relay’s inception in 1987 some 20,000 riders representing 1,600 organizations have raised almost $14 million for hospitals and health related organizations in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. And they continue to do this to commemorate the example of Graham ‘Woody’ Woodrup.
The Charities
Mulleraterong Centre in Hamilton plays a vital role for people with disabilities in this regional community and is currently raising funds for new health care equipment, the appointment of specialist therapists and establishment of respite houses. As well as caring for people of all ages with disabilities, Mulleraterong is well used by the Western District Health Services, the Paediatric Early Intervention Program, the Asthma and Arthritis Association and the Special Development School.
Funds from the Bay Riders have contributed to the building of new hange room facilities for the hydrotherapy pool, two community inclusion project vehicles, a new pool hoist, white goods for an independent living house and specialist equipment for the physical activities area.
The Harrow Bush Nursing Service provides much-needed personal care and treatment to many people living in this isolated community.
Our ride in 2010 will once again help fund the services of a District Nurse as well as the community housing project. In 2008 the Bay Riders helped the Centre purchase a house and land and the adjoining property has been officially named – 'The Bay Riders’ Block'!
This is why we do it!

Bay Rider's Involvement
The Bay Riders have officially entered teams since 2001 and in that time have raised almost $900,000 for two country Victorian charities.
We began with one team of 8 riders; then there were 4 teams totaling 48 riders and some 20 support crew! Now we have consolidated with two strong teams of 12 riders and a loyal support crew of 10 people from Melbourne and Harrow, a little hamlet in Victoria's Western District.
